“An idea you can do anything with, but an experience does something with you.”
– D.H. Lawrence
SCA is proud to be a foundational corporate partner to the nonprofit One World Surgery. The mission of One World Surgery is to ignite the spirit of service and transform lives by providing access high-quality surgical care globally. SCA teammates, physician partners and their families are invited to ignite the spirit of service and participate in one of our monthly Medical Mission trips to Honduras.
“I am always reminded that there is so much more to this world than what is happening in my life and its challenges. I feel privileged to have been a member of this medical mission brigade and look forward to a reunion!”

One World Surgery funds and operates a surgery center located on a 2,000 acre ranch of the children’s home Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos. Dr. Merlin Antunez, orthopedic surgeon, is the full time, on-site Medical Director; Dr. Antunez grew up on the children’s home. Providing this continuity of care and operating a standalone facility is unique and rare within the nonprofit surgical space. During weeklong medical mission trips, surgeons, physicians, SCA teammates, and family members come together to perform life-changing surgeries. One to two medical mission trips are hosted each month, with up to 60 volunteers per team. The ranch is approximately one hour northeast of Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras.
